Description

In Aisles of the Locust you start with a grocery list, a shopping cart and three lives on normal difficulty, and that small kit matters far more than it sounds. The store is dark, the aisles are long, and a creature called the Locust patrols between the shelves while you try to fill an order for your mom. It is a Roblox co-op horror game where the real skill is not grabbing groceries but moving through the store without being heard.

Filling the Grocery List in Aisles of the Locust

Each day asks for more. The HUD list reads like a real errand, with things like bread, cereal, flour and canned beans, and the quota climbs from 8 groceries on day one to 12 on day two and 16 on day three. Once the list is full you run everything back to the entrance and cash out, and then your squad has to hold the safe zone until every player is inside before the next day begins.

Beginners rush. They grab the nearest items, sprint across open lanes and reach the register with a noisy trail behind them. A better habit is to plan a route through the shelves, collect in clusters, and treat the cart as a liability as much as a tool, because bumping it into shelves makes noise that pulls the monster toward you.

Co-op changes the pacing. In a full squad, one player can scout a dark aisle while the others hold position, and every cash-out becomes a shared milestone. Solo stealth players have it harder, but a clean, silent run is a different kind of satisfaction.

How the Locust Hunts: Noise, Light and Line of Sight

The Locust is the store’s patrolling monster, and it ends most runs. A noise meter at the bottom-left of the HUD rises the more you move, and holding Ctrl to sneak keeps it down. Early in the game that meter is the most important thing on your screen, and Ctrl doubles as the whisper key for quieter voice chat, so a careful squad ends up speaking in murmurs.

Clicking sounds are the cue players learn to fear. When they get closer, freeze, put shelving between yourself and the sound, and let the Locust drift away. Your flashlight helps in the dark back aisles past the produce section, but light also makes you easier to spot, so flash it briefly and then switch it off.

If the Locust does spot you, sprint in short bursts because stamina is limited, and break line of sight behind shelves rather than running down the open center. Panic sprints on an empty stamina bar are the most common way a promising run ends.

Landmines, Mannequins and an Armed NPC

The Locust is not the only thing that can end a run. Three other hazards share the store with it:

  • Landmines sit in the aisles, so step around anything box-like and never sprint blind in the dark
  • Mannequins behave like weeping angels, freezing while you watch and rushing when you look away
  • An armed NPC roams the store, and gunshots pull the Locust straight to the shooter

The mannequins reward the opposite instinct from the Locust. Where the Locust wants you to stay out of sight, the mannequins want you to keep looking at them and back away slowly.

Together these hazards stack, which is why a quiet, patient route beats a fast one almost every time. By the time you face the 16-item list on day three, you will have learned that lesson the hard way.

Where Aisles of the Locust Splits Opinion

Players love the tension, but not everyone agrees on how much there is to do. Average sessions are short, around 12 minutes according to public stats, and the loop of list, cash-out and safe zone can feel repetitive to people who want a story. Those who enjoy a quick scare between other things see that as a feature.

The ending is also unclear. Recorded runs show daily cash-outs, and one group reports beating the game, but there is no confirmed win screen, and a written route involving an access card and a loading dock remains unverified. That uncertainty bothers completionists, while others enjoy the mystery.

Newcomers to Roblox horror often find the rules easy to read, which makes it a friendly starting point. Veterans, meanwhile, go looking for harder days and tighter squads, and the quiet beat right after a Locust passes is the moment most of them remember.

Aisles of the Locust turns a boring errand into a test of patience: keep the noise meter low, burst the flashlight, and use the shelves to break the Locust’s line of sight. Fill the 8-item list, then the 12, then the 16, and cash out at the entrance before the clicking gets close.
