Description
In Randy & Manilla you start as one of two heroes living in Bloxland Qubitown, and the first thing that matters is that a messaging algorithm called E-Mailer has arrived with an urgent warning. Cracksom Virus wants to delete every Net-Cube so his empire of computing corruption can spread to the real world. What follows is a 3D platformer and action-adventure that hops between video game genres from one virtual world to the next.

Net-Cubes and Genre Hopping in Randy & Manilla
The setting is a quantum cyber-universe inside the supercomputer created by Lambert Wilson in the year 2142. Within it sit brightly colored Net-Cubes, each a virtual world of pixelated and abstract structures with its own gameplay style. The idea is that every Net-Cube stands for a video game genre, so moving between them feels like the game changing its rules on you.
The Early Access build currently offers more than 40 levels spread across 9 Net-Cubes, backed by a wide range of soundtrack pieces and different mechanics. That is a meaty slice for a project still in development, although it also means some edges are unfinished.
Mayor Blue Quantáramo tells the heroes that they hold a hidden programming that prevents Cracksom Virus from corrupting them, which is why they set out. E-Mailer travels with them and opens portals to new worlds, so the journey has a clear structure. Platformer fans will like the constant variety, while RPG players will look ahead to worlds with deeper mechanics.
Choosing Between Randy and Manilla
The store page promises that each hero offers a distinct gameplay experience, and that promise is the main replay hook. Rather than a simple skin swap, the pitch is that Randy and Manilla feel different even when they walk through the same Net-Cube.
Because the details are not spelled out in advance, the simplest approach is to try both early and compare how each handles the first worlds. A demo is available on Steam for exactly that kind of first look. Treat it as a short taste test before you commit.
Players who enjoy replaying levels with a new toolset will appreciate the structure, and anyone who prefers to settle on a single favorite can focus on one path. Controller support is tagged, so players who like a pad in hand are covered.
Terra-Qubit, Gamezone Cube, and Rol & Rogue in Randy & Manilla
Terra-Qubit is built around levels based on the platform genre, which makes it the natural starting point. Gamezone Cube shifts to challenges with giant arcade machines and several nods to classic games. Rol & Rogue turns the action into battles and dungeons in the style of rogue-lite and RPG games.
Jumping between these styles is ambitious, and the pitch also mentions many other surprises, so not every Net-Cube is revealed in advance. Once Gamezone Cube appears, expect the rules to bend away from the usual platforming.
Retro arcade fans are the obvious audience for Gamezone Cube, while rogue-lite fans will watch Rol & Rogue closely to see whether its dungeons hold up as the project grows.
What Early Access Means for Randy & Manilla
Content. The current build has more than 40 levels across 9 Net-Cubes, and more are planned. New Net-Cubes with fresh mechanics and history are listed as the main additions still to come.
Roadmap. The game is meant to be completed through 3 big updates during Early Access. The second major update is planned to begin in 2027 at the current pace, and the project lists 2027 as its target for leaving Early Access.
Reception. The game has 11 reviews, and all of them are positive, which is a promising but very small sample. Expect bug fixes, adjustments, and possible level or character redesigns along the way.
Randy & Manilla is a project for players who enjoy watching a game grow. Cracksom Virus is still waiting at the end of the road, E-Mailer will keep opening portals, and Terra-Qubit is enough to decide whether the colorful Net-Cubes are for you.
