Description
Yandere Simulator Academy High looks like a quick reskin of the base game, a New York college where Akademi’s hallways used to be, but it plays like two complete campaigns with ten rivals each and six endings that judge how you treated every one of them.
Naomi and Eddie Wright: Two Campaigns in Yandere Simulator Academy High
2024 mode follows Naomi Wright, who got caught up in an incident about a year earlier that ended her friendships, including the one with Sean Heistburg, the person she had strong feelings for. While she is low, she asks her father Edward how he met her mother Destiny. His answer is that he removed several people from Destiny’s life in his early adulthood so nobody else could claim her, and he suggests Naomi go after those who betrayed her. That conversation is the engine of her revenge route.
1988 mode goes back to the source. You play Edward as a young man known as Eddie, who meets Destiny Folger at the bakery where she works and falls hard. When the college year starts and other students show interest in her, Eddie decides to clear them out of her life so he is the last one standing.
The father-and-daughter link makes 1988 feel like backstory for 2024, which is a smart piece of structure for a mod. Both modes are complete and playable start to finish, so nobody is waiting on an unfinished route.
How Academy High Differs From the Base Game
The biggest change is the setting. Instead of Akademi High School in a fictional Japanese town, the stage is a college in New York, and the Buraza Town map is reused to stand in for Manhattan. Veterans of the base game will recognise the layout under new labels. The core loop is the same: you watch rival routines, gather info, keep your sanity in check, and use Yandere Vision to track people through walls before you act.
The tone is also gentler. The lingerie store is now a shop selling sodas and water, and those drinks replace the old items as bonuses. Photographing the old kind of subjects no longer earns info points, and the info broker answers with a What the Hell, Player? line instead. That makes the mod easier to approach for players who enjoy the stealth and planning side of the base game but skip its shop content.
Lore fans get a few continuity nods. Chigusa, a 1989 rival in the base game, married Etsuji Odaka, the boy she was matchmade with, and the couple appear in 2024 mode keeping an eye on their daughter Sasha Nyuki, who is the first rival of the run. It is a small detail, but it shows how closely the mod follows canon.
Six Endings and What Each One Asks of You
Your ending depends on how you handle the ten rivals of each mode. Five endings are shared between 2024 and 1988, and each mode adds one of its own:
- Pacifist: every rival survives.
- Cupid: every rival is matchmade.
- True: every rival is defeated in their canon way, which a monologue at the start of each week explains.
- Bad: the first nine rivals are killed but the tenth survives.
- Normal: you land here when no other ending conditions are met.
- Vengeful in 2024, where all rivals are killed, and Heartbroken in 1988, which triggers if Eddie fails to leave a gift on Destiny’s desk every two weeks.
The True ending rewards attention rather than brute force. The monologue that opens each week explains the canon way to deal with that week’s rival, so reading it is part of the puzzle instead of flavor text.
Completionists have a lot to plan, since six endings in each of two modes adds up to twelve in total. The Bad ending is the cruelest trap on the list: one surviving rival at the very end undoes nine clean eliminations.
Learning Rival Routines and Friendship Tasks
The usual beginner mistake is treating Academy High as a pure sandbox of eliminations. Pacifist and Cupid runs depend on friendship tasks and matchmaking, and every rival has a unique friendship task in both modes. Learn each routine early in the week, before you commit to a plan, starting with Sasha Nyuki, the first rival in 2024 mode.
By the time you reach the tenth rival, your earlier choices are already deciding the ending. That is why the choice at the start of a mode matters: you can play on story or on debug. Debug gives you cheats, but the Gender Flip option stays locked unless you clear the mode on story, where cheats are disabled.
In 1988 mode there is an extra chore. Eddie has to leave a gift on Destiny’s desk every two weeks for some endings to stay available. It is easy to forget in the middle of managing rivals, so treat the gift like a rival routine and put it on your own schedule.
Gender Flip and Replay Value After the First Clear
After you finish a mode on story, later playthroughs unlock Gender Flip. Any rival, the protagonist and the love interest can swap genders in any combination, and presets show off what is possible. Players who enjoy roleplaying alternate casts get the most from it.
Because endings are tied to what you do with each rival, a flipped cast lets you chase the same endings with a different set of relationships. That turns a replay into more than a checklist, even though the underlying structure of ten rivals and six endings stays the same.
There is a catch worth knowing. Plans for further updates were dropped, so the mod will not get new routes or patches, and any rough edges inherited from the base game are staying. Treat it as a finished work with the quirks that come with a mod, not as an ongoing project.
Questions About Yandere Simulator Academy High Modes and Endings
- How many rivals and endings does Academy High have? Each mode, 2024 and 1988, has ten rivals and six endings. Five endings are shared: Bad, Pacifist, Normal, Cupid and True. 2024 adds Vengeful, and 1988 adds Heartbroken.
- How do you unlock Gender Flip in Academy High? You have to clear a mode on story rather than debug, because debug is the setting that gives access to cheats. Once that mode is cleared, later playthroughs of it let you swap the genders of rivals, the protagonist (Naomi or Eddie) and the love interest in any combination.
- What happens if you forget the gifts in 1988 mode? Eddie has to leave a gift on Destiny’s desk every two weeks. If you miss that requirement you get the Heartbroken ending, and some of the other endings also depend on keeping up with the gifts.
Yandere Simulator Academy High works best when you treat Naomi’s revenge and Eddie’s bakery romance as two puzzles that share one rulebook. Learn each rival’s routine, listen to the weekly monologue, and decide early whether you are chasing the Pacifist, Cupid, True or Vengeful result, because Sasha Nyuki is only the first of ten rivals and every choice after her counts toward the ending you land on.
